The Photographic Eye | Thursdays, 6-8pm

There is no tool in the bag more important than the eye of a photographer. This tool that we all possess helps us see and capture the world around us.

This four week course is an introduction to the art of photography that will emphasize the importance of vision in the medium. We will cover the basics of the camera while looking to reveal your unique perspective of the world. Through photo assignments, critiques, and open discussion we will help grow your confidence with your equipment while getting you in tune with your creative intuition to help take your photography to the next level. 

Week 1 | Introduction to the photographer’s eye, why it’s important, how to identify it, how to develop it. Discuss basic camera functions. First motion photo assignment, and bring 3-5 favorite photos that you’ve taken and 3-5 of your favorite photos others have taken.

Week 2 | Critique of first assignment and slideshow of gathered work. Second assignment, and bring 3-5 photos that you’ve taken that speak to you although you know they aren’t your best.

Week 3 | Critique of second assignment. Third assignment, and bring one photo that is overexposed and one that is underexposed along with a slideshow of all work completed during the course.

Week 4 | Final critique, deep dive into the total body of work produced over the course and try to identify patterns while digging deeper into the creative process to reveal your creative voice.
