Cross stitch is a time-honored needlecraft that has been popular for hundreds of years. Stitchers around the world enjoy this meditative and creative craft, designing and creating patterns from the simple to the complex, and the traditional to the subversive. Join cross-stitch designer and instructor Sophie Bebeau and learn cross-stitch basics in this fun hands-on class. Students will learn fundamental stitching techniques, how to read a stitch chart and begin a project, complete their first piece by following a pattern, and even learn to create their own pattern. Students will leave this session with at least one finished cross-stitch piece. All materials will be provided.
Sophie Bebeau is a professional graphic designer and cross-stitch pattern designer who fell in love with needle art at age 9 and hasn’t stopped stitching since. She is a Madison native who took a pitstop in Milwaukee to pursue a degree in creative writing and settled in Green Bay eleven years ago. She enjoys the budding arts and culture scene in the area and hopes to contribute to its continued growth. Sophie especially enjoys working with middle grade and high school students and loves the humor and creativity they bring to their art.
