Graffiti Art: History and Techniques in Lettering
About the Workshop:
Explore the complex world of graffiti art! Learn about graffiti history, different styles of lettering and watch live demonstrations. This workshop covers a wide range of topics, from the early days of subway graffiti to the amazing evolution of the present-day graffiti movement. Students will use what they learn to develop their own lettering style. Come learn about the graffiti movement and be a part of a community as diverse as graffiti art itself.
About the Instructor:
Born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Beau Thomas has created art for the streets as well as the galleries. Thomas got his start painting graffiti on freight trains. After a brush with the law, he transferred his skills onto canvas and gallery walls. He maintains a rugged graffiti aesthetic and now creates murals, paintings and graphic design. At 25 years old, Beau Thomas has earned degrees in Fine Art and Graphic Design. He owns and operates his company - Trackside Design LLC. Thomas has completed dozens of murals, including projects for Red Bull, Badger State Brewing Company and the Green Bay Area Public School District. His paintings have been on display at the Neville Public Museum, UWGB's Lawton Gallery and the Voices Gallery in Dubuque, Iowa.
About Art Night Out:
Art Night Out is a workshop series at the ARTgarage that aims to pair gained art experience and a good time. Art Night Out instructors come from all personal and professional backgrounds and are partnering with the ARTgarage to ensure that people from all walks of life can get involved in the arts in Green Bay.
Art Night Out takes place during one week of the month with a different class offered each evening. Each two-hour class is $35 per person with materials, fees, and complimentary wine included for those 21 and up. Come learn something new, create something original, and have an authentic, creative, and social experience at the ARTgarage.
