Gallery Assistant - Part Time Volunteer
Hours: 4 to 16 per week
Open gallery hours: Wed 12-4, Thu & Fri 3-7, Sat 12-4
Reports to: Gallery & Programs Specialist

Position Summary
Under supervision of The Art Garage staff, you will greet visitors and describe current exhibits, answer customer questions, work the gallery desk, answer phone calls, take messages, operate the cash register and POS software, maintain visitor counts, collect artist contracts, dust, sweep, shovel and salt entry as needed. This position interacts with the general public as well as local artists during artwork drop off and pick up. Depending upon your availability, you may also have the opportunity to assist with exhibit installation, artist receptions, and coordinating social media marketing for the gallery.

This position is often the first impression people have with The Art Garage. We are looking for someone with a background in customer service, retail sales, communications or similar area. Must have an interest in visual arts, be comfortable around people, a good communicator, and have a clean, neat appearance.

Located in downtown Green Bay, The Art Garage gallery has been part of the Olde Main Street Arts District since its founding as an arts center in 2006. From that time, it has provided a historical, unique venue with a casual atmosphere where the public can view and purchase artwork created by local Green Bay and surrounding area artists. Guests can enjoy a new solo or group exhibition each month in our front gallery, as well as original artwork from various local artists every 2 months in our open-call, juried side gallery exhibits. Each piece of artwork supports a local artist and The Art Garage gallery, a non-profit, and its efforts to keep this unique community tradition alive.
