Housed in the old cannery building on Main Street, located in downtown Green Bay's Arts District, our studios are packed with history, filled with natural light, and equipped with all of the tools and materials needed for each lesson! In these studios, young artists engage in the creative process from start to finish through new and unique lessons developed by our instructors in collaboration with The Art Garage staff. On the final day of class (Friday), our young artists will share the week’s work with family and friends in a causal "showcase". Each week, an instructor will also choose one student's final project to be in our August Exhibition. On the opening day of this exhibition, July 30th from 5pm-7pm, we invite family and friends to join us in The Art Garage gallery, located at 1400 Cedar Street, for an Artist Reception featuring these youth artists along with complimentary food and drinks, live youth performances, and more! While our Summer Art Workshop program explores a range of media and artistic skills, the goal of our workshops is to let children discover various ways to use their imagination and to ultimately turn something ordinary into extraordinary!
- Workshops are held Monday through Friday for 1 week straight.
- Morning youth workshops run from 9:00am-12:00pm.
- Afternoon youth workshop run from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
- Free childcare is provided during 12:00pm-1:00pm for students enrolled in both morning and afternoon session.
In light of the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, we would like to take the time to ensure to our community that we are aware of the concern and the importance of the health and safety of The Art Garage staff, volunteers, and community supporters.
As of right now, our Youth Summer Art Workshop program will be taking place as scheduled. We want to make you aware of the safety precautions and steps we are taking to ensure the safety of those who participate in this program. Being housed in a 55,000 sq. feet facility, this gives us the advantage of dividing our workshops into 3 different studio spaces. Being that we have various workshops taking place for several weeks, our workshops tend to include an average of only 6-7 students per class. This will allow participants to practice social distancing for the entirety of the workshop. Staff and instructors of The Art Garage will be persistent on regularly disinfecting all surfaces and objects while also promoting regular and thorough hand-washing by each and every student. Instructors for this program will be required to wear a mask during their time in our facility and students are encouraged to do so as well.
If you would still like to participate in this program but do not prefer on coming into our facility, we are also working towards figuring out the logistics of live-streaming each workshop so that students also have the option of participating in the workshop, virtually.
Further details will be sent out as the upcoming weeks approach.
