Youth Summer Art Workshops - WEEK 4

WEEK 4 (July 13 - July 17) Workshop Choices:

COMICS & CARTOONS (Ages 6-10) 9AM - NOON
with C.J. Guzan
Artist C.J. Guzan teaches his Comics & Cartoons classes on an individual level, with each student receiving direct and pointed instruction to help create amazing comics. Every student will enjoy the creative process during the week and come home with at least two finished comics (although it is more common to finish four or five)! The loose and interactive class atmosphere will ensure each student bolsters their creative potential in the most fulfilling way possible.

ILLUSTRATION & DESIGN (Ages 11-16) 9AM - NOON
with Anne Rakow-Weist
This course includes a review of the art elements (line, color, shape, form, texture) in unique ways, creating a variety of graphic art pieces, including logo design.  Various forms of art mediums will be available.  You will have a set of original art pieces to take home with you!

FOUND OBJECTS: MOBILE CAMP (Ages 6-10) 9AM - NOON
with Casey Early-Krueger
Does your youth love scarps or tend to hold onto your junk? Create a unique art object with all of those various treasures! Learn to assemble these 3-D objects with mixed media and collage with Instructor Casey Early-Krueger.

MIXED MEDIA (Ages 11-16) 1PM-4PM
with Michelle Heraly-Bonde
Students will incorporate fantasy into their own artwork. Dream like, colorful images will fuel this mixed media project, and may convey a "visual story"!

COLLAGE (Ages 6-10) 1PM-4PM
with Raven Storm
Students will explore collage, the art of creating an image by assembling different materials onto a two-dimensional surface. Green Bay artist Raven Storm will guide students through the process of selecting materials to design a compelling composition that is meaningful to you and your story!

Designed for ages 6 to 16, The Art Garage’s Youth Summer Art Workshop program encourages young students to discover their inspiration and express themselves in new ways! From painting to drawing, and printmaking to mixed media, our five-day workshops stimulate inquisitiveness, inspire the pursuit of creativity, and encourage self-expression!

Housed in the old cannery building on Main Street, located in downtown Green Bay's Arts District, our studios are packed with history, filled with natural light, and equipped with all of the tools and materials needed for each lesson! In these studios, young artists engage in the creative process from start to finish through new and unique lessons developed by our instructors in collaboration with The Art Garage staff. On the final day of class (Friday), our young artists will share the week’s work with family and friends in a causal "showcase". Each week, an instructor will also choose one student's final project to be in our August Exhibition. On the opening day of this exhibition, July 30th from 5pm-7pm, we invite family and friends to join us in The Art Garage gallery, located at 1400 Cedar Street, for an Artist Reception featuring these youth artists along with complimentary food and drinks, live youth performances, and more!

While our Summer Art Workshop program explores a range of media and artistic skills, the goal of our workshops is to let children discover various ways to use their imagination and to ultimately turn something ordinary into extraordinary!

Details:

  • Workshops are held Monday through Friday for 1 week straight.
  • Morning youth workshops run from 9:00am-12:00pm.
  • Afternoon youth workshop run from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
  • Free childcare is provided during 12:00pm-1:00pm for students enrolled in both morning and afternoon session
