Blue is the word describing the summer themed oil paintings of Susan Anderson. She uses Florida subjects along with northern Wisconsin lake scenery to create a collection of art depicting sunny moments and memories of the people around her. The paintings include figurative, plein air, and still life. Her art is infused with color and an atmosphere of warmth from the sun.

Susan Anderson, a native of the Midwest, has been drawn to artistic pursuits since childhood. She began her career as a freelance graphic designer while raising three children. During this period, Susan spent four years as the lettering artist for the famed Dick Tracy comic strip. Living in the western suburbs of Chicago allowed her to study at The Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts which further enhanced her oil painting skills. Susan continues to participate in numerous workshops by artists from around the country and abroad. It was her trip to Provence, France that ignited a passion for plein air. She is drawn to painting subjects that have a pattern of light and shadow. Her subjects include landscapes, still life, and figures. There is knowledge gained from direct observation, and the skills derived from painting en plein air can be seen in all her works. The learning process is ongoing. Susan currently resides with her husband in Fort Myers, Florida and they spend their summers in northern Wisconsin. These varied environments provide her with an incredible variety of ever changing subject matter and inspiration. She paints with several plein air groups and participants in exhibits and competitions.
