Position: Event and Facility Maintenance

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt


Job Status: 30+ hours per week, with the potential of up to 40 hours

Hours:  Days, nights and weekends

Starts:  Immediately

Reports To: Director of Operations

 

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Event and Facility Maintenance person would be responsible for all event prep, event clean up, building maintenance, facility projects, lawn care and snow removal.

Event rentals are scheduled weekly and would require moving equipment between buildings, staffing the event and cleaning the facility afterwards. Other events, such as workshops and special occasion events would also require prep, clean-up and other duties as assigned.

Regular building maintenance consist of repairing broken items, trouble shooting issues and maintaining the facility in good condition.  This includes lawn care during the summer and snow removal during the winter.

The hours are scheduled around events and may require late nights or early mornings.  Weekends are mandatory.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull carts, lift overhead and be experienced with power tools.  This is a physically demanding job and you will be on your feet the majority of the day.

Duties Include

Event Management

  1. Moving tables, chairs and furniture into the appropriate event location, along with set up and prep of the room.
  2. Be on site for the first hour of the rental and will need to provide excellent customer service.
  3. Be on site for the final hour of the rental to supervise the clean-up of the rental and making sure the renters exit on time.
  4. Final clean-up of the room, including running a floor cleaner, cleaning bathrooms and removing all garbage.
  5. Many events would require working on the weekend into the early morning hours.
  6. Other duties may be assigned as they arise or at the discretion of the Director of Operations.

Facilities Management

  1. Regular cleaning of the facility including the bathrooms, floors, and all rooms.
  2. Monthly spackling, sanding, and painting gallery walls for the exhibitions.
  3. Maintaining and purchasing inventory for cleaning.
  4. Facility repairs as needed.
  5. Keeping the property free of garbage.
  6. Mowing and weeding during the spring, summer and fall months.
  7. Sidewalk snow plowing and salting during the winter months.
  8. Other duties may be assigned as they arise or at the discretion of the Director of Operations.

Qualifications and Education

  1. Prior event and / or facility maintenance experience.
  2. Handyman and knowledgeable in working with power tools and equipment.
  3. Must be flexible in shifting hours to accommodate the rentals and gallery hours.
  4. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
  5. Thorough knowledge of structure and content of English language including spelling, grammar, punctuation etc.

  6. Familiarity and the ability to speak the Spanish language is desired.
  7. An understanding that this is a growing organization and to come prepared to be flexible, adaptable, and embrace the unexpected.
  8. Exceptional organizational, communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
